Makings of Motherhood is a collaborative blog where two women of different ages living in different states share their photographs and perspectives. While their children currently range in age from the toddler years to the teenage years, they are nonetheless united by the journey of motherhood and all its makings. Posts are published each month on the 2nd, 12th and 22nd. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom, a mama in the workforce, a foster or adoptive mother, an empty-nester, or trying to conceive, this community welcomes you.

Jennifer DeVille Catalano spent many years gathering letters before and after her name, but the three letters she is most proud of are MoM.  She is a long-time vegetarian who lives with her husband, five year-old daughter, two and a half year-old son and three cats at a place called Owl & Cat Farm in rural New York.  Jennifer is wild about wildflowers, nature walks, and the weaving of words, and swears by the healing properties of her camera.

Michelle GD lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, fifteen year old son, ten year old daughter, and the cutest puppy ever…and admits to holding certain biases.  As a homeschooling mama, she spends most of everyday with her children and can’t quite imagine it any other way.  Daily, she is inspired by her children.  And, daily, she has camera {or iPhone} in hand.  This is her tool, along with pen and paper, for navigating the life path she walks…documenting beauty that is sometimes sweet, sometimes bitter.  She feels pretty passionate about her role as mama, feels pretty jazzed about images and words, feels pretty inspired to be sharing in this sacred space where community gathers and considers the makings of motherhood.
